Position Overview
The Legal Editor will play a key role in maintaining the quality and reliability of vLex’s U.S. legal content. This position focuses on analyzing state legislative acts and updating statutes to ensure accuracy, currency, and compliance with our service-level agreements. In addition, the Legal Editor will apply legal expertise to analyzing court cases for Cert™ treatment, supporting the accuracy of Vincent™ AI results. The role requires attention to detail, strong legal analysis, and the ability to work within deadlines. Some projects may occasionally require work outside of standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and update charts for assigned states to ensure statutory accuracy
- Deliver statutory material to data customers within established deadlines
- Conduct treatment review for assigned Cert™ jurisdictions
- Participate in editorial meetings and cross-team collaboration
- Track and report on work metrics regularly
- Maintain ongoing communication with the manager and team
- Independently delivering statute updates with minimal assistance
- Achieving a consistently low error rate in Cert™ treatments
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of editorial workflows and quality standards
Qualifications & Skills:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree
- Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Experience with U.S. case law analysis
- Proficiency with basic word processing and spreadsheets
- Comfort working with both established and proprietary computer applications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Experience editing legal statutes
- Experience editing legal citators
